Funds Breakdown

WHERE $$ IS GOING

BEING TRANSPARENT & PUTTING OUR MONEY TO THE BEST USE

Every dollar we receive through donations is being used to directly support this cause. The team of individuals from our neighborhood are donating their time and putting up their own funds to begin the process and to continue to fight. We want everyone to be confident that their donations are making a difference. Here is where we have put the money we have received and where we are putting the money we are raising. Currently we have raised funds from various residents, but we are quite a ways from our goal to have proper supporting data and representation at the City Council appeal on September 20th in Council Chambers at 240 Water St.

In order to manage funds we have created an entity appropriately named: Preservation of Rural Section 4 (PRS4 for short)

Representation

Experienced representation to argue our points is the largest expense. At the appeal we are estimating a fee of roughly $10-15K. This retainer has been signed, but we are nowhere near the goal for the estimated fees. The individual we have retained is highly confident that we can overcome the RLUIPA laws that are being used as a weapon to force the hand of COH.

Traffic Study/Report

A traffic study will provide the data that is needed to reinforce our concerns regarding safety on the roads due to an increase in traffic on our rural roadways. This study will cost between $4-$5k.

Status: Working/Pending

Appraiser Report

A report that illustrates how our property values will be negatively impacted by this development. An appraiser report will cost roughly $5k.

Status: Working/Pending

Legal Experts/Data

Gathering legal precedence and data that directly contradicts the content that has been provided by the developers is going to build a mountain of evidence and an equally large mountain of charges in legal fees. This is a large part of how our efforts are keeping the costs down. Special thanks goes out to the team of neighbors that are spending every spare waking moment researching and gathering information to support our opposition.

Still there are fees associated with verifying and formatting the data which are estimated at anywhere between $5k-$10. This will go up substantially should we need to take this to a judicial review.

Status: 2 Cases Submitted/Pending Additional Data

Safety Reports

A report furnished by a safety/crime expert will be essential to demonstrating why our opposition is valid. We are working with crime and safety experts to create reports that show criminal activities and safety concerns for residents are valid. Estimated cost estimates $5k.

Status: 1 Report Submitted/Pending Additional Reports

Unity Tee Shirts

It may seem small like a small item, but showing unity through a simple apparel item is essential to giving a visual queue on the opposition and solidarity of our RNP Section 4. These are being passed out at neighborhood meetings, distributed to neighbors donating $100 or more and outside city hall. The type of impact this can have reinforces our message. Cost is $2k.

Status: Being Distributed & Sold for $20 Each

Dark Sky Area

We are working with the International Dark Sky Association to be designated as a dark sky "area" which would give us protections beyond an RNP. SEE INFO & GUIDELINES HERE
